Earlier this week we heard that regional carrier Cellular South was planning to rebrand itself on September 26th, but it appears that the company just couldn't wait to start spreading the news. Cellular South today announced that it's becoming C Spire Wireless on the 26th, at which point it claims it'll be the "the nation’s first and only wireless provider to introduce personalized wireless services." C Spire aims to do this by being engaged with its customers via social media, having a "state-of-the-art website," helping users find relevant apps, and its Percs program, which will reward customers for doing things like using the carrier's community forums and being a loyal subscriber. There's no word yet on what kind of devices or plans C Spire plans to offer, although the press release does make mention of "personalized plans with infinite data."
Obviously there's still a lot we don't know about C Spire, but with all of the talk that it's doing about helping to "personalize" wireless service for its customers, it should be interesting to see what kind of plans and benefits the carrier comes up with. Until we hear more, you can find us staring intently at the countdown clock on the C Spire website in an attempt to make the time until the 26th go faster.
