Well what do we have here? It seems that Microsoft and Nokia have sent out invitations for a joint party taking place on August 17th at the gaming-focused Gamescom conference in Cologne, Germany. The fact that Nokia and Microsoft are teaming up to host the shindig, combined with the Windows Phone emblem in the lower right corner, indicates that the mobile operating system will at least get a bit of the spotlight at the party. There's no mention of exactly what the two companies have planned for the gather, but the invite does mention that "exciting actions and surprises" are in store. Alright, Nokia and Microsoft, you've got my attention.
Unsurprisingly, some folks have speculated that Microsoft and Nokia could finally show off the Finnish firm's first Windows Phone-powered handset at the event, but I wouldn't say that such an announcement is a sure thing. After all, a gaming convention seems like a strange place to unveil such a major product, doesn't it? One would think that the two companies would want to hold a special event specifically for Nokia's first Windows Phone. Stranger things have happened, though, so I wouldn't completely rule out a hardware reveal quite yet. UPDATE: According to one of This is my next's "trusted source," there won't be any new hardware at the event. Instead, the event will likely be used as a way to get cozy with developers and perhaps show off the Sea Ray once again.
