Ready to begin wrapping up the week with some more Apple rumor fun? Let's just dive right in. First up is a report from the folks at 9to5Mac, who have posted leaked photos of an iPod touch front panel. What's so special about this part? Why, it's white! The current iPod touch, as well as all previous versions, have been available in black only, but now it looks like Apple may be prepping a white flavor of the new iPod touch that's expected to debut later this year. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has been spot-on with Apple rumors in the past, corroborates the white iPod touch claims. Kuo also claims that the new model will feature a design similar to the current iPod touch.
Moving on to the iPod touch's big brother, it seems that we may have more evidence to support the claims that the next iPad will feature a display with a higher resolution than the one found in the current model iPad. Speaking with The Korea Times, LG Display CEO Kwon Young-soo said that more smartphone manufacturers will be releasing smartphones featuring LG's "Retina Display" that's "been used in iPhones and iPads." Certainly not concrete confirmation that a 2048x1536 resolution iPad is on the way, but it does seem to add fuel to the rumor fire.
Getting back to that white iPod touch rumor, I don't think many would be surprised to see Apple unveil such a device this year. After all, both the iPad and iPhone are now available in white. Now that Apple seems to have figured out how to crank out quality white faces for the iPhone, why not give iPod touch customers a color choice too? Outside of the possible color change, many expect Apple to also throw a dual-core A5 processor into the new iPod Touch and perhaps bump up its cameras, as well. Would any of you be interested in a frosty white iPod touch?
