RIM has yet to officially announce when we can expect its latest BlackBerry smartphone, the Bold 9900, to hit the market, but at a recent shareholder meeting the Waterloo firm did say that it plans to release seven new BlackBerrys sometime soon. There was no mention of what the devices in question might be or when exactly they'll be launched. At a recent shareholder meeting, though, co-CEO Mike Lazaridis said that the Bold 9900 should launch "over the next month."

Keeping up with the RIM news, co-CEOs Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie have been given six months to prove that there's a real need for both execs to keep their positions. If they're unable to do so, Northwest & Ethical Investments LP has said that it'll reintroduce a proposal to split the roles of CEO and chairman. Northwest & Ethical Investments is the same firm that originally called for the split, but it withdrew its first proposal after RIM agreed to allow a committee to examine the CEO and chairman roles and then decide how best to fill the positions.

So now the question is: what devices does RIM have up its sleeve? Well, it's likely that the company is counting the Bold 9900 and 9930 as separate handsets, so there's two. The other products could be the Torch 9850/9860, the Curve 9350 and its GSM variant, and the Torch 2 9810. Again, there's no word on when RIM is planning to release the seven new products that it said is coming, but considering how long its been since we've seen a new BlackBerry smartphone, hopefully they're coming sooner rather than later.
