I hope you're hungry for a Motorola-4G-FCC combo sandwich, because that's exactly what we're serving up tonight. Two 4G-enabled Motorola devices were recently caught passing through the confines of the FCC and, although there's no mention in the filings of what exactly either device is, we've got a pretty good idea of what they are. First up is a product going by the name "IHDP56LU2." Just rolls off the tongue, doesn't it? This mystery device is packing CDMA and LTE connectivity, which indicates that it's likely Verizon-bound. The FCC was also kind enough to disclose this particular products dimensions, which come out to be 259mm long and 166mm wide. That means we're looking at a device that's slightly smaller than the XOOM. Can you say XOOM LTE/XOOM 2?
The second Moto device in the FCC is also packing CDMA and 4G support, but this time we've looking at a WiMAX-friendly product on our hands. This particular device goes by the name "IHDP56MD1," and given the fact that it's likely headed to Sprint and made by Moto, we may well be looking at the Photon 4G. After all, it is rumored to be arriving this month.
So is the first device indeed the next XOOM? It's certainly possible. We first caught wind of the XOOM 2 when it appeared in a leaked Motorola site redesign, and then a device reportedly called the XOOM 4G showed up in an ad that Verizon put together. Finally, the XOOM LTE was recently spotted receiving MAP designation at Big Red. Whatever this mystery tablet ends up being called, it doesn't look like it's far from launch. Stay tuned!
