Remember when Samsung filed an ITC complaint against Apple in an attempt to ban sales of the iPhone, iPad, and iPod? Well yesterday saw Apple respond to the complaint with, you guessed it, a complaint of its own. If the ITC agrees to investigate Apple's complaint, a hearing on the matter likely won't take place for at least another year.
We recently saw Apple file a preliminary injunction against four Samsung's devices and also attempt to speed up the suit, asking for a jury trial to take place in February next year. When asked about Apple's moves, Samsung said that Apple "attempts to create an emergency where none exists" and that the suit "will not affect by one minute Samsung’s ability to continue selling competing products" even if Apple is successful. It certainly looks like the battle between these business partners is getting bloodier by the day and, at this point, I'm not sure we should hold out much hope for those rumored negotiations. Maybe we should lock the leaders of both companies in a room and belt out some "Kumbaya"?
