Love the Samsung Galaxy S II but wish it tasted a bit more like Mango? If so, you're not alone. According to some sleuthing done by the folks at WMPowerUser, Samsung may well be prepping a version of the Galaxy S II running Windows Phone 7 Mango as a follow-up to the Focus. The site found a listing in the Bluetooth SIG database for the Samsung SGH-i937 that just so happens to share the same characteristics as the Mango Bluetooth SIG stack. That alone tells us that the device in question is likely a WP7 device headed for AT&T, as Samsung devices with model numbers beginning with "i" are generally meant for Ma Bell. The theory that the i937 is similar to the Galaxy S II is based on two factors: 1) the Focus is also known as the SGH-i917, and 2) AT&T's actual Galaxy S II is believed to feature the model number SGH-i927.

So is Samsung really prepping a Windows Phone version of the Galaxy S II? It's a little to early to say with certainty, but such a move wouldn't come as a surprise. After all, the Galaxy S II is selling like Android-flavored hotcakes, so why wouldn't they just take that hardware and throw Microsoft's OS on it? Unfortunately, it may be a couple of months before we actually see such a device arrive, as Microsoft has said that the Mango update won't be coming until the fall. Don't fret too much, though, WP7 fans. With specs like a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display and dual-core 1.2GHz processor, I think a WP7 Galaxy S II will still be a fairly high-end device once the leaves start changing colors.
