Been wondering what happened to Sony's S1 and S2 Honeycomb tablets since they were made official earlier this year? Us too. Today both devices are finally back in the news, though, as the folks at German site Golem were lucky enough to spend some quick hands-on time with the two slates and shared some quick first impressions of them both. The S1, which is photographed up above, was described as light and managed to run Crash Bandicoot on its 9.4-inch display. The S2 and its unique clamshell design is described as being similar to a Nintendo DS and is said to be packing a PlayStation logo on its body, confirming that it is indeed PlayStation certified. Both the S1 and S2 were described as packing a heavily customized version of Honeycomb, but Sony wouldn't allow images of said UI to escape the confines of its testing room. That didn't stop Golem from capturing a short clip of the S2 in action, though! Peep the video below.
Although it's still a tad early to pass judgment on the S1 or S2, it's good to see Sony bringing to market some devices that are different that the plain ol' black or aluminum slabs that we're so used to seeing. Now that we've gotten to know the S1 and S2 a little better today, anyone planning on picking one of them up and getting your PlayStation on this fall?
