Folks were understandably excited when it was revealed that the HTC EVO 3D allowed for the easy uninstallation of bloatware, but today we've got even better news for all of the Sprint customers out there. Speaking with the folks at MobileBurn, Sprint said that it made the decision to allow EVO 3D owners to remove preinstalled applications due to consumer feedback and that it plans to continue doing so on future devices. The carrier went on to say that there's no policy in place just yet, but still, this is pretty awesome news.
Although some preinstalled apps can actually be useful to the end user, if you don't ever use them they can be end up being a bit of a pain. Not only can it be kind of annoying to have apps that you never use and can't remove taking up space in the Android app drawer, but folks with a device with limited built-in memory can sometimes end up having to selective remove their own apps to make space for any new software they may want. Android 2.2 Froyo helped to alleviate the issue by letting users install apps to their SD card, but bloatware can still be a problem every now and then. Good on Sprint for giving its customers the choice to uninstall bloatware when they see fit. Now we just have to cross our fingers and hope that other carriers will follow Sprint's lead.
