Well, that can't be good for Apple. After a recent hearing on Apple's battle with Amazon over the latter's Android Appstore, U.S. District Judge Phyllis Hamilton said that she will "probably" deny Apple's request that Amazon stop using the term "Appstore." Hamilton said that Apple hasn't sufficiently demonstrated that Amazon's use of the term Appstore causes confusion among consumers.

Apple and Amazon have been trading blows in the App Store v. Appstore battle over the past few months, with Amazon claiming that the "App Store" term is too generic to be trademarked and Apple alleging that Amazon's "inferior" Appstore is tarnishing the iOS App Store's image. Although Hamilton has said that she's not likely to rule in favor of Apple, she added that she'll be reviewing all of the court filings before making a final decision.
