The Motorola DROID 3 is rumored to be landing as soon as July 7th, and if you're considering picking up the latest and (possibly) greatest entrant into the DROID line then you'll be glad to see this second set of benchmark results. As you can see above and below, the DROID 3 was recently put through the GLBenchmark 2.0 paces, and it did pretty well for itself in a pair of tests. First up is the Egypt test, which is one of the more demanding tests in the GLBenchmark group. In the Egypt benchmark, the D3 and its 1GHz TI OMAP 4430/PowerVR SGX 540 graphics combo edged out every other competitor save for the LG Optimus 3D. The newest DROID didn't fare quite as well in the slightly less demanding Pro benchmark, although it still finished fifth against a wide range of other handsets. The D3 also showed up on a GLBenchmark information page as the XT883/Solana with specs that are fairly similar to the ones found on the Milestone 3 that was made official last week (surprise, surprise).
Many folks are disappointed that there likely won't be any LTE connectivity found in the DROID 3, but for those of us that don't mind/don't want 4G, the device is shaping up to be pretty impressive. Now we just need to patiently sit and wait for Verizon and Motorola to make the DROID 3 official. If the D3 is indeed coming on July 7th, an announcement should be along in a couple of weeks.
