We haven't heard much about the Motorola DROID 3 ever since we saw a couple of images of the device leak out last month, but today we've been treated to a closer look at the next device in the Motorola DROID lineup. Parts reseller Global Direct Parts has posted images of the display for the DROID 3 which, if they're legit, confirm that the D3 will feature a 4-inch 960x540 display and a front-facing camera, which GDP thinks will be 0.3-megapixels. The DROID 3 also looks like it'll ditch the extension at the bottom of the display that was present on the DROID 2, but it will pack the same capacitive buttons as the D2, and they'll even be in the same order. Interestingly, Global Direct Parts also mentions the name "Targa" next to the DROID 3 moniker, which up until now has been associated with a full-touch, LTE-enabled Moto device.
It seems kind of strange that a parts resell would already be selling parts for a DROID 3 when the device doesn't have a release date (we've heard sometime in Q2) and isn't even official yet. Even stranger is that the Targa name is listed on the page, too, but there are a couple of possibilities for that. For example, the name Targa could actually be the codename for the D3 rather than for the new/enhanced Bionic. It's all very muddy right now, but we should be learning more as the weeks go by, especially if the DROID 3 does end up launching in Q2.
