Just days ago, we learned that Apple had filed a lawsuit against Samsung alleging that the latter's Galaxy devices "copied" the look and feel of Apple's iPhone and iPad. Unsurprisingly, Samsung has fired back with a lawsuit, or more specifically three lawsuits, against Apple. The suits are filed in Germany, Japan, and South Korea, and claim that Apple is infringing on 10 of Samsung's patents that include things like "power reduction during data transmission, 3G technology for reducing errors during data transmission, and wireless data communication technology." Samsung issued the following statement on the suit:
"Samsung is responding actively to the legal action taken against us in order to protect our intellectual property and to ensure our continued innovation and growth in the mobile communications business."
After news of Apple's suit against Samsung emerged, most people knew it was only a matter of time before Sammy responded with some litigation of its own. I'm kind of surprised that Sammy has filed a suit against Apple in the U.S. yet, but I'm sure that that'll be coming along sooner rather than later. We'll be sure to bring you more info as the situation grows, so stay tuned.
