AT&T announced that they plan to acquire T-Mobile for $39 billion on March 20th and, just over one month later, both companies will begin filing all of the paperwork necessary to help get the deal rolling. In an emailed statement, AT&T's Michael Balmoris said that they "plan to file [their] public interest statement at the FCC around April 21." Along with the FCC review, the AT&T-Mobile deal will be reviewed by the Justice Department to determine whether or not it violates antitrust law.
Although we're still about a year or so away from finding out whether or not the whole AT&T/T-Mobile deal will actually go through, it's pretty exciting to see everything get underway. There's no question that the merger has a rough road to approval ahead of it, but you know that ATT will do all it can to push the deal through. Has all of the information that's come out in the past month changed your opinion on the ATT-Mo deal and whether or not it'll get the A-OK from the government?
