When it rains, it pours, right? After going through a bit of a drought on BlackBerry smartphone news, we heard some details on BlackBerry 6.1 and 7 last night and today new photos of the BlackBerry Touch have emerged. The folks over at BGR spent some hands-on time with the BlackBerry Touch, which is also known as the Monaco (Verizon), Monza (GSM), and Storm 3. It's unlikely that this device will actually come to market with the Storm moniker, though, which is good news for those of us that have never been big fans of SureType. The Touch is packing BlackBerry 6.1 and will require users to sign in with a BlackBerry ID, which will likely be similar to a PIN and allow users to back up data and make switching handsets easier. Finally, BGR has heard that RIM will make the Touch, Curve Touch, Torch 2, and the Bold Touch/Dakota official at BlackBerry World in May.
Although the first two Storms weren't particularly bad products, they never really caught on like I'm sure RIM hoped they would, thanks in large part to the SureType touchscreen that actually made users push the display in to register a click. The new BlackBerry Touch looks much-improved over the Storm devices so far, especially if its rumored specs (1.2GHz core, 3.7-inch 800x480 display, BlackBerry 6.1) hold true.
