BlackBerry Protect, RIM's solution to keep all of the sensitive info on our 'Berrys safe and secure, was officially introduced way back in July last year. Today, though, the Protect beta was finally taken out of the Beta Zone and made available to each and every BlackBerry user. BlackBerry Protect lets users find their lost smartphone using GPS and cell tower triangulation, can display messages on the device's home screen to help someone return the phone, activate a loud ring, and also allows for remote back-up, lock, or even a full secure wipe.
It's kind of surprising that BlackBerry Protect has been stuck in the Beta Zone for this long, but I'm sure that there are a lot of users that will be happy to take advantage of the service now that it's in open beta. Best of all? Protect is free to BlackBerry users. Be sure to grab it in the App World now, and those of you that have already tried Protect out, be sure to let us know what you think down below.
