BlackBerry PlayBook set to launch on Verizon? [UPDATED]

We know that RIM intends to release a WiFi-only BlackBerry PlayBook some time in the near future, and a model with Sprint 4G capabilities is planned for launch some time this summer. If neither of those devices sounds like your cup of tea, though, it's been discovered that a PlayBook with Verizon compatibility could be on the horizon, too. The folks over at Skatter tech have discovered a website with information about a PlayBook that would run on Verizon's CDMA network, although there's no launch or pricing info to be found anywhere. Check out the site for yourself right here.

Considering that RIM puts its BlackBerrys on just about every carrier around, I wouldn't be shocked if they wanted to follow a similar strategy with their tablet. Unfortunately, if this new site is indeed the real deal, it doesn't look like Verizon's PlayBook will end up with 4G connectivity like Sprint's model, instead being relegated to 3G use only. Still, it'll be nice to be able to choose which carrier you want a PlayBook from rather than only having one option. Hooray choice!

UPDATE: And in more PlayBook news, a screenshot reportedly from Office Depot has leaked out which claims that the WiFi-only PlayBook will be launching in Week 17 (April 24-30) for $499.99.
