Lately we've been seeing a bit of a resurgence in the portrait QWERTY form factor on devices not named BlackBerry, including the Pixi, DROID Pro, and Venue Pro. Thanks to a newly-leaked photo, we now know that Samsung will be following up their Blackjack devices with a new portrait keyboarded phone of their own. As you can see in the image above, the handset is running an unknown flavor of Android and is headed for Sprint at some point in the future. There's little else to glean from the photos, although there's speculation that the screen resolution is in the neighborhood of 480x320. Check out one more shot below.
Considering that the majority of Android phones in existence fall into one of two categories (full touch or landscape slider), it's refreshing to see Samsung following Motorola's lead and putting together a phone for the portrait QWERTY enthusiasts among us. I also like the fact that Sammy saw fit to include physical home, search, back, and menu keys rather than the capacitive kind that we see so much of. It's a bummer that we don't know much more about the phone, but considering that Sprint has its own event coming up, with MWC following right after, I wouldn't be shocked if we learn more in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned!
