It's always a bad day for us phone-obsessed folk when our carrier of choice experiences a data outage, but data and voice? That's rough, but that's exactly what appears to be happening to Verizon customers in Virginia. Verizon has confirmed that there is indeed an outage, although they're not quite sure what's causing the problem. There's also no ETA for when services will be restored, but the carrier promises that it's working on fixing the issue as soon as possible.
We don't often hear of major network outages, especially ones of this scale, but it's obviously a pretty big deal when it happens. The fact that it's taking place during the day, rather than the middle of the night, just compounds the problem. Since this issue is affecting both voice and data, I'm sure that Verizon is pretty anxious to get things back to normal, and we'll be sure to update you when they do. Are any of you out there being affected by the outage?
UPDATE: Well, that was fast. Verizon has confirmed via Twitter that the network should be back up and running normally.
