We saw last week that Apple was testing four and five-finger multitouch gestures on the iPad, but that's not the only device that they're considering adding the gestures to at some point. Some leaked images sent to BGR tonight show that Apple may be testing four and five-finger actions on the iPhone. The same gestures that we heard about for the iPad are allegedly being tested for the iPhone, including pinching to return to the home screen and swiping up to reveal the multitasking bar.
It's not terribly surprising that Apple is testing the multi-finger gestures for the iPhone, as I'm sure that they're testing all kinds of stuff internally. It seems like kind of a strange to require four or five fingers for the gestures considering how small the iPhone's screen is, though. More fuel for the buttonless iPhone and iPad rumor, I suppose? A problem I can see with a buttonless approach is that it pretty much eliminates one-handed use, which could be a deal-breaker for many users. Are you one of those users, or do you think the idea of using four or five fingers to pinch and swipe your way around iOS on a 3.5-inch display sounds doable?
UPDATE: One intrepid iPhone user managed to get the multitasking gestures on his device and threw up a video demonstrating them for all to see. Peep it down below.
