Toshiba will be joining in on the Honeycomb tablet fun, as details of their own tablet have been unleashed onto the Internet. The still-unnamed device will feature a 10.1-inch, 1280x800 display, a Tegra 2 processor, 5 megapixel rear camera, 2 megapixel front-facing camera for all your video chat needs, and USB, HDMI, and SD ports. In order to help the tablet stand out from its competitors, the 1.7-pound, 0.6-inch thick device will feature a rubberized back that will be removable and come in different colors for customizability. Additionally, the battery will be user-replaceable. Toshiba is waiting for Honeycomb before unleashing their tablet onto the market, and right now they're targeting a release some time in the first half of 2011.
There's going to be a flood of Honeycomb-powered tablets at CES, so it's nice to see Toshiba trying to differentiate their product with a variety of ports and the option of swapping out the back cover and the battery. One of the biggest issues that people have had with the iPhone ever since the original device's launch in 2007 was the non-replaceable battery, so it's obvious that people want the option. We'll have to spend some hands-on time with the tablet, and find out its pricing, before declaring Toshiba's product a winner, but things are definitely looking good.
