We're only about a week away from finally seeing the HTC Thunderbolt revealed at CES, but somehow the device's specs have somehow managed to elude us. Today, however, German blog HTCInside claims to have all of the details about the Thunderbolt, but you'll need to keep a few grains of salt handy while reading over them. The leak covers the European version of the Thunderbolt, although specs for the U.S. model will likely be similar to the version released across the pond. Those specs reportedly include:
- 4.3-inch display
- 1.2GHz Qualcomm MSM8960 dual-core processor
- Android 2.3
- 8 megapixel rear camera
- 5 megapixel front-facing camera
- 1080p HD video capture
- 16GB Internal Memory
- MicroSD card slot that supports up to a 128GB card
- 1800 mAh battery
- WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
- Quad-band, UMTS, LTE, HSDPA, HSUPA radio
There are a couple of issues that people have with these leaked specs, the first of which is the processor. Not only have we heard in the past that the Thunderbolt's CPU will be single-core, but the MSM8960 chip that this rumor claims will be powering the device was revealed only last month and isn't supposed to begin appearing in phones until 2012. It's possible that the model number is simply mislabeled in the leak, but I'm not holding my breath. One of the other things that bothers me about the rumor is the supposed 5 megapixel front-facing camera. The camera on the EVO, which is still a high-end device, was only a 1.3 megapixel shooter, so I doubt that HTC would be able to cram a 5 megapixel cam into the front without any trouble. Some of these rumored specs could appear in the Thunderbolt that will be revealed next week, just don't be heartbroken if you don't see a 1.2GHz dual-core chip running the show.
