Many Android users have been plagued by a bug in the OS that causes sent text messages to be delivered to an incorrect recipient, and a listing on the Android developer forums has revealed that Google doesn't seem terribly concerned with fixing the problem. Originally reported to Google back in June of 2010, the bug is currently listed as being "Priority-Medium." A poll over on Hardware 2.0 revealed that, as of this writing, nearly 15 percent of users that responded have encountered the problem at least once before.
The SMS bug in Android may not affect a huge number of users, but it's still a pretty major problem, which is why I'm surprised that Google still hasn't addressed it. While I've never encountered the issue in my use of Android phones, I have a couple of friends who have experienced it, and it can get frustrating. Maybe now that the issue is being brought to light, Google will figure out what's going on once and for all. How many of you Android users have had an SMS sent to the wrong recipient at some point in the past?
