It's been a while since we last heard anything about a possible HTC-made tablet running Android, but a couple of new trademark filings may have revealed the still-unconfirmed device's name. Over at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, HTC has filed for a couple of trademarks that will be used to describe a "handheld wireless device, namely, a tablet computer." Those two names are "Scribe" and "HTC Scribe."
Although HTC has never really confirmed that they've got an Android tablet in the works, I wouldn't be surprised if they did considering how much they've embraced Google's OS and how huge the tablet market is expected to get. Rumored specs for HTC's tablet include a Tegra 2 processor (unsurprisingly), a 1280x720 display, 2 GB of RAM, a 32 GB SSD, and a Q1 2011 launch. Some have speculated that the name "Scribe" could hint at the inclusion of some sort of capacitive stylus, which could really help HTC's device stand out, especially with the more creative individuals among us. With CES just around the corner, it stands to reason that we'll learn something more about HTC's tablet plans shortly, so stay tuned!
