The Nexus S hasn't even been out for a month yet, but it's already getting its first update today (and no, it's not Honeycomb). Weighing in at 1.9MB, the update will bring the system to GRH78, official version 2.3.1, and includes some bug fixes as well as the latest version of Maps. Of course, if you don't want to wait for it to be pushed to you, you can find a download link and installation instructions at the source link.
This certainly isn't a major update, but it's still nice to see the Nexus S getting upgraded so quickly. Getting timely updates is one of the many allures of the Nexus line, and I'm sure that those of us that have opted to pick up the S, especially for full retail, are glad to be moved up so soon. If you're a Nexus S owner, be sure to let us know when you get the update (or install it) and what your experiences are!
