Samsung Intercept gets updated to Android 2.2

We heard yesterday that the Samsung Intercept would finally be updated to Android 2.2 and, right on cue, Sprint has announced the arrival of a new maintenance release for the device.  Included in upgrade version DL05 are a few bug fixes, Sprint Navigation, and, most importantly, Froyo.  The update is being rolled out by Google and, according to Sprint, "may be released in waves," so don't fret if your Intercept doesn't get the notified right this second.  The full list of enhancements is as follows:

  • Android 2.2 Froyo
  • Sprint Navigation
  • Dropped calls after unacknowledged call waiting
  • Force Close message when opening up contacts

That's not exactly the longest list of improvements we've ever seen, but all that really matters here is that the Intercept is finally moving up in the Android dessert world.  There's no word on exactly how long the roll out will take to reach every device, but if you're really impatient, you can try pulling it down yourself by going into System Updates and hitting Update Android or Update Firmware.  Intercept owners, be sure to ping us when your Froyo goodness finally arrives and tell us all about your experiences!
