The saga of the white iPhone 4 and its multiple delays are well-documented, and at this point it's almost as mythical a device as the Verizon iPhone. The latest delay happened back in October, pushing the albino iPhone all the way back to some time in spring of next year. Considering how close that would put it to the inevitable launch of the iPhone 5 next summer, rumors that the white iPhone 4 had been cancelled entirely spread like wildfire the very next day. It looks like The Great White Hype is still alive and well, though, as new signage appearing at Apple stores says that the device "will be available spring 2011."
We're certainly no closer to knowing the exact launch date of the white iPhone 4, but those of us that continue to hold out for the device will be glad to know that it hasn't been canned. At this point, though, you have to wonder what the point of a launch would be. Sure, it's nice that Apple is committed to getting the thing out, but I can't imagine that there are a ton of users that will wait until March 2011 or later just for a white iPhone 4. One theory is that the white iPhone will end up coming to market as the Verizon iPhone, which would be pretty crazy to see. Both devices are slated to arrive early next year, so it's not totally out of the realm of possibility. Does anyone have any other hypotheses? Are any of you still waiting for the white iPhone 4 to arrive?
