A couple of weeks ago, we learned that Verizon was trialling new unlimited mobile-to-mobile plans in select markets across the country, and now the carrier is giving select customers the opportunity to test another new plan. Some Verizon customers have been receiving emails offering them a chance to sign up for a new plan with 450 minutes and unlimited texts and data for $69.99 per month, similar to Sprint's Everything Data Plan. A similar family plan is available that offers 1400 minutes and unlimited texts and data for $139.99 per month, with a charge of $19.99 for additional lines. Before you dash to Verizon's site to sign up for the plan, though, there are a couple of caveats to be aware of. Verizon is not allowing just anyone to add the new plan, and they will verify that you were sent the email before adding it to your account. Also, if you are one of the lucky few and want to sign up, you'll be forced to re-up your contract for one year to do so.
Verizon and AT&T aren't always known as the most competitive carriers around when it comes to plan options, so it's nice to see Big Red taking a page out of Sprint's book with this new plan. Sure, it doesn't offer unlimited mobile-to-mobile like Sprint's Everything Data, but Verizon's test offering is still $20 cheaper than regular customers on VZW would pay for the same plan. It's worth noting that this new plan isn't even available in Verizon's systems yet; customers are given the regular $60 Talk and Text plan with the $30 unlimited data plan and then credited $20 per month for a grand total of $70. Because of this, it's tough to say whether or not Big Red will be opening up this plan for everyone later on. So have any of you Verizon customers gotten in on this new plan?
