With the recent flood of Android-based tablets in the news lately, it can be tough to remember that Android isn't the only mobile OSes that will be making an appearance on a tablet device.  Palm's webOS is also slated to appear on an HP tablet some time in Q1 2011 and, while not much is known about the device except that it's coming, HP let out a little more info about it today.  In an email sent out to Palm's developer community, HP said that the webOS will be used on tablets similar to the iPad.  No one is sure if that means HP is basically making a webOS-powered iPad or if the company just means that it'll be making a tablet with webOS.  The full quote can be read below.

While I'm sure that HP's tablet will be a great product, I have a feeling that people will love it just because it's a new piece of hardware running webOS.  Hopefully by Q1 next year, though, we'll actually have new handsets running webOS to go alongside the tablet.  We've heard that the Palm Pre 2 will be launching in October, although considering how little we've heard about the device up until now, I wouldn't be surprised to see October go by without any new webOS hardware.  At least we have plenty of webOS 2.0 leaks to keep us busy, right?

"Now that we are officially part of HP, we are going full speed ahead with our applications initiative. Our proprietary operating system, webOS, is now the OS that will be used in HP's mobile devices. This includes mobile handsets as well as tablet-style devices similar to the iPad. We will accordingly leverage Palm's ability to innovate and the scale of HP's vast install base and distribution network previously unavailable to us."
