With all of the Android tablets coming in the next few months, it's becoming obvious that tablets are gaining popularity with consumers. Best Buy's CEO confirmed this for us in an interview a couple of days ago, saying that Apple's iPad has cannibalized sales of laptops at Best Buy by as much as 50 percent. In order to increase sales of the iPad and perhaps eat into laptop sales even further, Best Buy will begin selling the iPad at all of its 1,093 stores in the U.S.
The iPad has certainly been successful since its release earlier this year, helping to bring easy-to-use tablets to the masses. With the impending launch of Samsung's Galaxy Tab in the U.S., we'll be seeing a wave of Android tablets hit the mainstream, as well, and I wouldn't be shocked to see the Tab and other tablets start stealing shelf space away from other products at Best Buy and similar retailers. Do you plan on picking up a tablet at some point in the future or does the idea of a small, touch-based computer rub you the wrong way?
