Just a couple of days ago we learned that Verizon will be releasing a CDMA model of Samsung's Galaxy Tab, similar to the device we've seen leaked by a dev in Israel. Interestingly, Verizon may not be the only U.S. carrier to launch the Tab, as the device just passed through the FCC with a GSM 1900 radio on board. This means that we could see the Galaxy Tab launching on AT&T some time in the future, which would be a great opportunity to expand the Tab's popularity here in the U.S. Along with the GSM radio, the Tab in the FCC has both 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi.
It appears that Samsung is taking a Galaxy S approach with the release of the Tab by releasing the device on multiple carriers. Considering that it will be a long time before we're able to buy an unlocked device and use it on any carrier we choose, I think it would be good to see a little less handset exclusivity in the U.S. Exclusivity isn't a bad thing every now and then, but what Samsung did with the Galaxy S line of devices is great, especially since each carrier got their own little exclusive variation.
