Are you passing up the Motorola DROID 2 launch today to wait for the limited edition R2-D2 DROID 2 next month? You'd better mark down September 30th on your calendar, then, as that's when the device will be made available to eager customers. Checking out the special DROID at Star Wars Celebration V, a tipster sent some images of the device to our friends at Android Central. Included in the photos was a picture of a banner at the event proclaiming that the R2-D2 DROID 2 will be "Coming to your galaxy 9.30.10." We also get to see the front of the device and, while it isn't the clearest shot ever, the face of the Artoo unit looks pretty similar to a standard DROID 2 unit besides the obvious color change.
I'm pretty bummed that we have to wait until the end of September to pick up the R2-D2 DROID 2. Hopefully this means Verizon and Motorola will have enough units to meet demand, which I'm sure will be pretty high. So, readers, is this the DROID you're looking for?
