Google announced Voice Actions at their mobile-centric event today, and now they've got another big announcement. Chrome to Phone, which we actually saw a few months ago, is now official and available in the Android Market, although you'll need Android 2.2 to download the app. You can now push websites and other info straight from Chrome on your computer to your Android-powered device, including directions and YouTube videos. Google also explained that the code is open, meaning we could see devs use the app in new ways, including porting the service to browsers other than Chrome. When asked about porting Chrome to Phone to other mobile OSes, specifically the iPhone, the Google team explained that they were "looking into" it.
Even though we saw Chrome to Phone some time ago, the functionality is still pretty cool. The fact that your phone will know whether to open its browser, Maps, or any other app depending on what information you push to it makes this app even better. Although it's great to hear that Google is even considering allowing others OSes to take part in the Chrome to Phone fun, I'm not going to hold my breath. We may see it some time in the future, but I have a feeling that this is a feature that Google is going to want to trumpet as "Android exclusive" for a while.
