Following up the completion of HP's acquisition of Palm, we're finally getting the first webOS update from the newly-merged company.  Version 1.4.5 of webOS has finally started rolling out to Pres and Pixis the world over. New features include updates to the browser and and the security of webOS, as well as final support for apps developed using Palm's Plug-in Development Kit, or PDK.  The PDK allows developers to port C/C++ apps to Palm's platform, meaning major 3D gaming support.  Sprint owners should be seeing the update any moment now, while Verizon and AT&T owners will have to wait a while for the update to come to them.  With the 1.4.5 update, as well as the fact that HP is now selling both the Verizon and AT&T Pre and Pixi Plusses for free, it's a great time to be a current or prospective Palm owner.

I'm glad to see that HP and Palm are continuing their hard work right after the merger was completed.  Now we just need to see some new webOS hardware, because the Pre and Pixi are starting to get a little long in the tooth.  It is disappointing the Verizon and AT&T owners have to wait for the update to be pushed to them, though.  I guess that's just the trade-off for being Plus owners, right?
