While we're inching closer and closer to the June 23rd event where new Motorola and Verizon devices will be unveiled, there's still time for some leaks of those devices, as well. The latest leak is about the Droid X and comes from a friend of Phone Arena. In the past we've heard that the device will ship with an NFL app as well as an app to control multimedia devices, but now we have information on even more pre-loaded apps. The device will ship with a Blockbuster online app similar to the HTC HD2, SWYPE, an FM radio, Motorola Phone Portal, Skype, Backup Assistant, City ID, Motorola DLNA, Visual Voicemail, and Verizon's 3G Mobile Hotspot, similar to the Palm Pre Plus.
All of these apps are welcome additions, especially to an Android newbie who may not know which apps to check out. FM radio is a feature that is missing in a lot of high-end devices lately and is a great addition in the Droid X. SWYPE recently opened its beta program to all users for a short time, and while the software still has a few kinks to work out, it's definitely a great input method for users who want something different from the stock Android keyboard. Finally, the Mobile Hotspot is a feature that is being added to new phones more and more recently and is even an included feature in stock Android 2.2. While its appearance is a great addition, there's no word on whether it will be free like it is on the Pre Plus. I would assume that users will be charged for the feature since Verizon was most likely just trying to sell Pres when it made the service free.
