Though we saw it coming by way of tips and rumors, AT&T has officially discontinued sales of the Apple iPhone 3G. In an e-mail obtained by BGR, AT&T sales representatives are to refer customers to the 3GS models:

Effective immediately, iPhone 3G 8GB is Out of Stock. Please refer all customers to iPhone 3GS 16 GB and 32 GB models.
