There's been a lot going on in the world of Apple lately. With WWDC starting next week, the iPad selling over two million units, and constant leaks of next-gen iPhone hardware, there's plenty to keep people talking for days to come. Unfortunately, not all news revolving around Apple has been positive. In the last several weeks a number of employees at Foxconn, the Chinese company that assembles iPhones and iPads, have committed suicide leaving many questions as to how civilized the working conditions are. Tonight at the D8 conference in California, Steve Jobs spoke on the issue for the first time in public. He acknowledged that "It's a difficult situation," and that they're "trying to understand right now, before we go in and say we know the solution." Reports earlier today suggested that Apple would be subsidizing raises for Foxconn employees, perhaps in attempts to alleviate the strain on the employees who work far beyond the legal limits in a less than optimal environment.
