The official Twitter for BlackBerry app was released to public beta back in early April of this year. Since then many have had the opportunity to give it a whirl and see how it stands up to the test of social networking superusers. I gave it a pretty good run myself, and save for several annoying bugs, was pretty pleased with its performance (check out the review here). As with everything, there are those that will give Twitter for BlackBerry rave reviews, and those who will not. For the people who like it, the good news is that this past Wednesday BlackBerry announced they would be rolling out an update to the App in the coming days.
This morning when I awoke and started my normal routine of checking my messages and playing with my phone, I opened up Twitter and saw the following message: "New Twitter software update available. You must now upgrade to continue using your software." Naturally, I followed the appropriate steps and the update commenced. Though, I certainly haven't had enough time to make any real judgments, it did seem a bit snappier and less buggy. On the other hand, that could also be related to the recent update for the BlackBerry 9700 I received the night before. In any case, here are some of the new features you can expect of Twitter for BlackBerry (For a detailed listing of the new features, follow the source link below):
It will be interesting to see how Twitter for BlackBerry performs over the next few weeks, with its shiny new update and all. And you can be sure we'll let you know if anything out of the ordinary takes place. If you're a Twitter for BlackBerry user, what have your thoughts been thus far?
