After we reported about Engadget's rendezvous with the BlackBerry Storm 2 and its lack of a SurePress screen, we were a bit shocked to hear RIM co-CEO Mike Lazaridis openly say that "SurePress is here to stay" from the stage of D7 today. As seen before, RIM is known to change their hardware prior to launch, and it's entirely possible that Engadget picked up a pre-production unit that simply lacked SurePress. Of course, the other alternative is that RIM is developing something else and planning to simply brand it as SurePress. It's anyone's guess.
