Sliding in at $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate, the LG Rumor 2 has officially been announced by Sprint and will offer a QVGA display, a 1.3 megapixel camera, GPS, stereo Bluetooth, a microSD card slot with support for up to 16GB, and an extra removable backplate.
In regards to the launch dates, the "Black Titanium" version can be ordered online or via phone (1-800-Sprint1) beginning on March 15th, followed by "Vibrant Blue" on March 29th (which was right on track with our prior launch speculations). Should a physical store be your shopping preference, the device will be available on April 19th across all retail channels.
Update: It appears that Alltel has beaten Sprint to the punch and launched their own version of the device, the LG Banter. Available today on Alltel's website and in retail stores, the device replaces the Scoop and features a slightly different design. Following recent trends, the phone appears to be available in divested markets only (I placed my non-divested zip code in, and the device didn't come up). The Banter is on the website for $39.99.
