Well, they went through with it. Samsung Mobile executed its wacky scheme to set the Guinness World Record for "Fastest Text Messaging While Skydiving" last Friday, December 20.
Professional skydivers texted while freefalling from 12,000 feet during the Samsung Mobile XTREME TEXTING event outside Los Angeles. They team used a range of Samsung Mobile messaging phones?including the Propel, Gravity, Rant, Alias and Messager'to text the following phrase: ?The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human.?
Though "Fastest Text Messaging While Skydiving" would be a brand new entry in the Guinness World Records, it's not the first text-related record on file: Jeremy Sng Gim of Singapore sent the "Fastest Text Message" last February by texting the same 160-character phrase in 41.40 seconds.
Watch the stunt and find out which phone stands up to high altitude texting below. (For more on the phones used in the event, see descriptions provided by Samsung Mobile after the jump.)
