According to TmoNews, T-Mobile is prepping an "equipment installment
plan" that will let its customers pay for new handsets and accessories
over time instead of all in one shot, as is the norm these days. The
plan apparently will not be a traditional credit-lending deal, and
won't carry any sort of APR or interest. Rather, T-Mo will let
qualified customers spread up to $500 in purchases out over several
months and pay as they go.
No, you won't be able to use this plan to pay for your service (or
late fees) on an interest-free, pay-over-time basis. But yes, the plan
will extend to current customers looking to upgrade their 5300 to a G1,
and not be limited to new subscribers. If, that is, TmoNews knows what
they're talking about. Which they often seem to.
