Just a quick bit of fodder for the Android rumor mill. Tech Radar has an Interview with Microsoft's Scott Guthrie regarding the possibility of their Silverlight product, which competes directly with Adobe's Flash, showing up on Android-powered phones. Considering Apple's decision to accommodate neither on the iPhone, Silverlight for Android could really heat up the touch-screen game.

While certainly not an announcement of Microsoft's intention to get Silverlight into the hands of G1 and future Android phone owners, Guthrie did make an interesting statement:

"It's more of an open platform, that is something we're going to continue to look at. Certainly as it's gotten deployed and if sales are good we'll definitely keep our eyes out and look at that in the future."

I've got Flash running on my Linux-powered computer right now. And while it's not officially supported, I think there's a good chance it could be installed on Android phones as well. Could Android signal and facilitate the release of the most web-friendly phone yet?
