Once upon a time I bought an Xbox for the sole purpose of modding it to run Xbox Media Center so I could use it as an audio/video server. Never got around to modding it and eventually traded it for a knock-off Bertoia Diamond chair. But this post on BoingBoing tugged on one of my heartstrings nonetheless.
If you like the idea of using an iPhone to control a remote media server but want to steer cleer of Apple's Mac/iTunes/iRemote ecosystem, XBMC Remote may be for you. The iPhone app lets you control your XBMC via Edge, 3G, or WiFi so you can queue up and play tracks, and even read album reviews, all from the comfort of your sofa. Or, as BoingBoing points out, from the comfort of somewhere far off like Bolivia if you connect via cellular data.
Check it out on BoingBoing or hit the official XBMC Remote site. The app is available direct from the Apple App Store.
