Just got word across the wire that Sprint will be selling Instinct for the super low price of $129.99 after rebate with a two-year contract. The phone must be used on a Sprint Simply Everything plan, which includes unlimited Web, Email, GPS, Sprint TV Premiere, and other services; Simply Everything plans start at $69.99 for 450 monthly voice minutes. An unlimited plan is available for $99.99/month.
Frankly, I was expecting Instinct to come in around $199 so this comes as a bit of a shock. Then again, Sprint made no bones about the fact that they're launching Instinct as a direct competitor to Apple's iPhone, and they even said they were waiting to see how Apple priced the new iPhone 3G before pricint Insinct. As such, this ultra-aggressive pricing shouldn't be seen as too much of a surprise (35% cheaper than the entry level $199 iPhone 3G). Still, that's a lot of phone for $130. We'll have to see how many folks pony up for it, and how many of those actually mail in those rebate forms.
Use of instinct will require a "Simply Everything" plan, which offers unlimited services such as Web, Email, Sprint TV Premier and Music Premier, and GPS Navigation. Simply Everything plans range from $69.99/month for 450 voice minutes to $99.99/mo for unlimited talk time. Instinct will be available starting this Friday, June 20 both directly from Sprint and, apparently, at Best Buy.
So alright ... who's buying one?
