Back around Valentines' Day I reported on Microsoft's acquisition of Danger, Inc., the power behind each and every Sidekick you've ever seen glued to a teenager's thumbs in a public place. Today MS announced that the deal is done and Danger has officially been bought for $500 Million and rolled into MS's Premium Mobile Experiences division.
What's interesting about this is that division chief Roz Ho will now be in charge of Danger's brass, and the Premium Mobile division falls under the same general banner within Redmond - the Entertainment and Devices Division - as Xbox and Zune do. In a nutshell, Microsoft has aligned its new acquisition as part of the corporate channel that makes MS-branded consumer products. Does this mean we'll be seeing a new line of D-Wade Microsoft Sidekicks, or some sort of Steve Ballmer Autographed Model Danger Phone before too long? Could be.
