When RIM started making consumer-friendly BlackBerrys with features like media players and cameras, some folks in the business community took exception.  Media players aren't too egregious (though they could account for a bit of time-wasting), but cameraphones are a known security risk in sensitive business environments.

That could explain RIM's latest patent application.  Check out the drawing re-posted over on Just Another Mobile Phone Blog.  The handset, which looks like a regular old BlackBerry (Curve?  Pearl?), has a removable camera button.  The button acts like a key to the cameraphone's lock - insert the button key and the camera works; remove the button key and the camera is disabled.  Sounds like a decent enough solution for corporate types who want their cameraphone but can't take it into secure environments.  But I can smell some hassles from out-of-the-know security officers in the works here.
