Sony Ericsson went back to the flip phone form factor for their new high-end Walkman phone, the W980i.  Featuring 8GB of onboard memory, "Walkman on Top" functionality for full media player access from the external display, and a built-in FM transmitter, the W980i is compatible with SE's PlayNow service, which was recently expanded to a catalog of over 5 million songs available for over the air download.

The 16.9mm thick W980i also packs an FM radio, 3.2MP camera with video recording, Access NetFront Web browser, and Quad-Band GSM radio with UMTS/HSDPA 2100 compatibility.  Sony Ericsson is listing Q3 of this year as the ship date for the W980i, which will only be available in Piano Black.
