LG's booth at CES was all about style. They had fashion shows, they had a DJ, and they had actor Jon Favreau (he of "Swingers" fame) on hand to sign posters promoting his forthcoming movie, "Iron Man." And I even ran into legendary NYC DJ Funkmaster Flex there.
But enough with the gossip ... LG had the Scoop - Alltel's version of the Rumour messaging phone - on display along with the KS20 Windows Mobile smartphone, in both GSM and GSM/WiMAX versions. They also had what looked like production dummies of a watch phone concept on display behind glass.
The center of LG's mobile phone area, however, was the Viewty. LG constructed this enormous mechanical merry-go-round thing with a huge Viewty mockup in the middle of it, and put a bunch of working Viewtys around the perimeter of the thing for folks to play with. Viewty features a 5MP camera with Xenon flash and low-light capabilities, and high-speed video recording at 120fps with direct-to-YouTube uploading. This GSM handset also has a 3" touchscreen backed by a really nice user interface and a solid feature set including integrated Google Mail and Maps, Flash Player support, and is finger-friendly. My one quibble with the phone is that the on-screen QWERTY keypad is a bit small for heavy use. But it's still a very cool handset with a killer camera
