Do away with your credit cards and get a Nokia?

Not just yet, but they are getting close with the introduction of the 6131 NFC (Near Field Communication) handset. The phone is the first of its kind to offer an integrated RFID chip that stores your financial information to allow you to pay for products and services using only the phone. It is similar to a Mobil Speed-Pass in that you have to swipe the phone close to a special sensor for it to complete the transaction. Of course the store must also be TTP compatible for it to work.

There are still lots of questions and concerns that need to be addressed in order for this technology to be accepted by the masses. How secure is it? Will retail locations invest in the technology? Do we really even need it?

Are you willing to give up your plastic?
